Academics

A fulltime accredited program for players at the highest level of commitment and skill, our school is designed to help players achieve and succeed beyond the junior level to college and professional levels. Founded in 2013, the GTP School provides its student-athletes the opportunity to combine their tennis talents on the court with their academic skills in the classroom.  In the classroom, students master accredited, college preparatory, on-line courses (North Carolina Connections Academy or Laurel Springs School) with the help of our dedicated classroom tutors, Anne Shick and Elaine Delgado. Students receive an excellent education whilst also having the time and flexibility to train and develop as competitive players.

Anne Shick - Upper School Classroom Coordinator and Tutor

Anne Shick is our Upper School classroom coordinator and tutor. She has a Chemical Engineering degree from Clemson University, an MD from the Medical University of South Carolina, and did her residency in Family Medicine at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Association. Her two sons' passion for tennis and decision to pursue online schooling led her to the classroom. She brings energy, a love for learning, and an understanding of the adolescent journey to our middle and high school students.

Elaine Delgado - Lower School Classroom Coordinator

Elaine Delgado is our Lower School classroom coordinator. She has a Master’s degree in Education and has been teaching for over fifteen years. Over the years, she has been a Teacher Leader, New Teacher Mentor, and Teacher of the Year twice. Her belief in children developing their own learning style and growing to their full potential has led her to the GTP School.

At it's inception Greensboro Tennis Foundation had only 7 student-athletes. Using on-line based learning, with dedicated teachers in the classroom, the students are receiving an excellent education while gaining the time and flexibility to train and develop as tennis players. Since its inception, the school has grown. The school has 30 students currently enrolled for the 2018-2019 year from ages 8-17.

Our GTP students travel to many tournaments together as well. GTP fosters a team environment and each student-athlete and coach is a key member of the team. Because tennis can be an isolating sport, it is important to give our athletes a sense of community and a team that stands behind them.

GTP student-athletes succeed both on and off the court! If you are interested in learning more about our full-time academy please contact Mike Belangia at mike@greensborotennis.com. Housing is available for full-time students and guests.
